Easter BBQ Ideas…with Beer and Wine

Most of us here at Castle Rock Homebrew Supply have outgrown the Easter egg hunts, but that doesn’t stop us from firing up the grill and serving up some homebrews and homemade wine and sharing it with family and friends. Easter may seem like the time for fancy linens and the good silverware, but since it’s stopped snowing here in Colorado (for now) why not invite friends and family over for a Sunday outside in the cool, spring air. And nothing goes better with BBQ than beer and wine.

Ham and lamb are great on the grill

Bring Easter outside and take the traditional Easter ham or Easter lamb and put them on the grill. If you’re going for the Easter ham, getting it pre-cooked, means all you really have to do is heat it on the BBQ, leaving you plenty of time to serve and brag about your homemade wine. Hopefully you’ve prepared something sweet to balance the saltiness of the ham. A Riesling is perfect. Or a fruity Zinfandel.

If you’re going for the traditional Easter lamb on the grill, the easiest is probably just seasoning some chops and cook for about 10 minutes. Or you can do a roast and cook it over direct heat. At 350 degrees, and the lid closed the roast should take about 45 to 50 minutes, leaving you plenty of time to mingle with your guests. For the lamb, you want to break out the big, bold reds that you’ve got stored. Anything with enough fruit and acidity that can stand up to the robust lamb flavors will perfectly compliment your roast or chop.
